Identify. Understand. Respond.
Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance-use issues. OHAAA is excited to sponsor training for members to complete Mental Health First Aid.
Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.
Please note: this is a full day training that requires that you are present for the full training. The schedule does have breaks built in. Additionally, participants will be required to complete two hours of pre-work on their own on top of the six-hour facilitated virtual training.
At the end of the training, each participant will receive access to a manual full of helpful information, tips, strategies, and vetted resources, plus a workbook to help guide them through the training sessions.
Since this event is sponsored by OHAAA and free for our members, we do expect high demand. Because of this, a $10 invoice will be generated on your OHAAA membership account. This fee will be waived upon your completion of the training - please do not pay this fee! You will receive an email that you owe, but you will only be charged if you don't show for the event.
